Posted by: Pete Roussel on February 2, 2012 Former Ole Miss running back and All-Pro running back Deuce McAllister is set to join the Ole Miss staff under Hugh Freeze. McAllister's exact title has yet to be determined, but it's likely that McAllister will serve in some sort of offensive quality control capacity. McAllister, who was in Oxford over the weekend, will not be one of the nine full-time assistant coaches. After a brilliant college career at Ole Miss, Deuce was drafted in the first round of the 2001 NFL draft by the New Orleans Saints. He finished his career as the Saints all-time leading rusher and earned All-Pro honors twice. At Ole Miss, Deuce finished his career with 41 touchdowns and passed the 100-yard rushing mark in 13 games. The Ole Miss staff includes two other former players in co-offensive coordinator / offensive line coach Matt Luke and wide receivers coach Grant Heard. The rest of the staff includes Dave Wommack (co-defensive coordinator / assistant head coach), Tom Allen (linebackers), Maurice Harris (tight ends / recruiting coordinator), Derek Nix (running backs), Wesley McGriff (co-defensive coordinator / corners), and Dan Werner (co-offensive coordinator / quarterbacks). The Ole Miss spring game is set for April 21st at 1 pm CT. ---------------------- You can follow me on twitter @CoachingSearch |
