Posted by: Chris Vannini on January 3, 2013 Sources have confirmed to CoachingSearch.com that former NC State head coach Tom O'Brien will be returning to Virginia as the tight ends / assistant head coach. O'Brien was the offensive coordinator / offensive line coach for the Cavaliers from 1982-96 before taking the head coaching job at Boston College. He was the head coach at NC State from 2007-2012, making a bowl in his final three seasons, but the Wolfpack dismissed him following the regular season and hired Dave Doeren from Northern Illinois. According to Jeff Gravley of WRAL in North Carolina, O'Brien and NC State renegotiated his buyout, which opened the door for him go to Virginia. The school will now pay him just $200,000 instead of $1.2 million. Stay tuned to the Coaching Search Ticker for the latest. _______________
