Edinboro University: Former Georgetown offensive coordinator Vinny Marino will join the Edinboro staff as offensive coordinator. Marino spent last season at Boston College in an off-field role.

Alabama A&M: Georgia Military College linebackers coach Marlon Watson has joined the Alabama A&M staff as nickel / defensive backs coach, and former SMU basketball strength and conditioning coach Karl Jordan has joined the staff as head strength and conditioning coach. In addition, defensive coordinator Reggie Johnson will coach defensive line, nickel coach Brent Pradia will move to linebackers coach / special teams coordinator, assistant head coach Andy Fuller will coach tackles / tight end, and wide receivers coach Ashley Lelie will serve as passing game coordinator.

North Carolina: Graduate assistant Gerald McRath has stepped down, he said in a statement. McRath was arrested Monday morning for driving while impaired.

IMG Academy: Cardinal Newman HS (FL) head coach Steve Walsh has been named director of football at IMG Academy in Florida, and Carmel HS (IN) head coach Kevin Wright has been named IMG head coach. Both replace Chris Weinke, who held both roles and left for the quarterbacks coaching job with the St. Louis Rams.

Alabama: As coaching salaries have increased in recent years, here’s a comparison of the Alabama staff salaries in 2010 and 2014.

Cleveland Browns: General manager Ray Farmer has been suspended without pay for the first four games of the 2015 season for sending text messages to personnel during games in the 2014 season. The Browns were also fined $250,000. Reports indicate Farmer texted an assistant coach and team representative about strategy and use of personnel.

Penn State: UTSA graduate assistant Ryan Smith has joined the Penn State staff as a defensive graduate assistant. Smith previously played at William & Mary from 2009-13. 

Stanford: Northern Arizona cornerbacks coach T.J. Rushing has joined the Stanford staff as a defensive assistant. Rushing is a former Stanford player and served as a graduate assistant at Arizona State from 2012-13.

Northern Arizona: Former SMU assistant offensive line coach Tim Davis has joined the Northern Arizona staff as offensive line coach. Davis has more than 30 years of coaching experience and joined the SMU staff last September, after June Jones stepped down. Davis previously coached Florida’s offensive line from 2012-13.

Northern Illinois: St. Francis (IL) assistant Adam Siwicki has joined the NIU staff as a defensive line graduate assistant. Siwicki spent two seasons at St. Francis after serving as a graduate assistant at Montana Tech in 2012. In addition, Nick Brautigam will serve as a defensive backs graduate assistant.

Ellsworth CC (IA) Per source, Itasca CC (MN) wide receivers coach / recruiting coordinator Donny Diaz has joined the Ellsworth staff as defensive backs coach / recruiting coordinator.

Assistant salaries: How much have assistant salaries increased? Here’s a comparison of the top 10 assistant salaries in 2010 and 2014.

Western Carolina: Tight ends coach Pat Mills has added special teams coordinator duties, defensive ends coach Mark Rhea has added the title of assistant head coach, running backs coach De’Rail Sims has added the title of director of player development, offensive line coach John Holt had added the title of director of player personnel, and defensive tackles coach Dennis Thomas had added the title of director of housing and pro liaison.

Northern Colorado: Alabama A&M defensive line coach / special teams coordinator Bryan Cummings has joined the Northern Colorado staff as special teams coordinator. Cummings spent one season at Alabama A&M after previously serving as a quality control assistant at Texas A&M.

Michigan State: Per source, former Wartburg College linebackers coach Andrew Hawken has joined the Michigan State staff as an offensive graduate assistant. Hawken joined the Wartburg staff in 2013 after one season at Augustana College and is a former MSU player from 2005-09.

Indianapolis Colts: Regarding his contract situation, Colts head coach Chuck Pagano said in a statement, “Be where your feet are. What do I mean? Cancer taught me to be thankful for today. All I’m concentrating on is today. Then tomorrow. My focus right now is on the draft, bringing in players that can help us continue to grow, get better and continue to ‘Build the Monster.’ I look forward to coaching the Colts this season and for many years to come.” Pagano is entering the final season of his original four-year deal.

Stanford: Former Oakland Raiders defensive quality control assistant Eric Sanders has joined the Stanford staff a defensive assistant. Sanders spent five seasons with the Raiders in various quality control roles. In addition, assistant director of football operations Ryan Devlin has been promoted to coordinator of player personnel, and administrative associate Callie Seidman has been promoted to assistant director of football operations.

Savannah State: Former Norfolk State offensive line assistant and current Northeast Guilford HS (NC) head coach Donovan Jackson has joined the Savannah State staff as offensive line coach.

Oklahoma State: Former Southern Miss director of strength and conditioning Mark Smith and former Southern Miss strength and conditioning coordinator Anthony Hibbert have joined the Oklahoma State staff as assistant strength and conditioning coaches. Both spent the past two years at USM.

Rushing defense: 19 schools have improved their rushing defense for two straight years. Here’s a look.

Harvard: Bentley University (MA) defensive line coach Logan Thompson has joined the Harvard staff as assistant defensive line coach. Thompson previously spent 2013 as a special teams quality control coach at Coastal Carolina and has also coached at Fitchburg State (MA).

College Football Playoff: Former Vanderbilt head coach Bobby Johnson will replace Archie Manning on the playoff selection committee.

Graduate transfer: An NCAA group will look at potentially changing the graduate transfer rule.

Rutgers: Springfield College (MA) outside linebackers graduate assistant Jared Keyte has accepted a player development position at Rutgers. Keyte spent two seasons at Springfield.

Colby College (ME): Springfield College (MA) offensive line graduate assistant Matt Dugan has accepted a running backs position at Colby College. Dugan spent two seasons at Springfield.

Saint Augustine’s University (NC ): Per source, Fayetteville State defensive coordinator / defensive backs coach Errick Hargrove has joined the Saint Augustine staff as defensive coordinator / defensive backs coach / associate head coach / recruiting coordinator. Hargrove previously served as defensive coordinator at Virginia State from 2006-2013.

St. Lawrence University (NY): Men’s soccer coach / assistant athletic director Bob Durocher has been promoted to athletic director.

Minnesota State: Simpson College (IA) offensive coordinator / assistant head coach Joe Beschorner has joined the Minnesota State staff as interim offensive coordinator. Beschorner spent the past seven seasons at Simpson.

Cincinnati: Moeller HS (OH) offensive line coach Doug Rosfeld has joined the Cincinnati staff as director of player development. Rosfeld is a former Cincinnati player and has been at Moeller since 2005. He has also served as rugby head coach in the spring since 2009.

Rushing offense: 28 schools have improved their rushing offense for two straight years.

Southern University: Athletic director William Broussard has been reassigned to the president’s office, and men’s basketball coach Roman Banks will be named interim athletic director, according to The Advocate. Broussard was hired to the position three years ago and received a three-year extension last April.

New Mexico Highlands: Indiana State wide receivers coach Joe Bever has joined the Highlands staff as offensive coordinator / quarterbacks coach. Bever spent two seasons at Indiana State, and he follows ISU defensive line coach Jeff Mills, who was named Highlands head coach earlier this month. Bever previously coached at Evangel University as offensive coordinator. 

Fort Lewis College (CO): Defensive line / strength and conditioning coach Joe Morris has been promoted to assistant head coach. Morris is entering his third year with the Skyhawks.

Ventura College (CA): Feather River College (CA) defensive coordinator / defensive line coach Michael Haydon has joined the Ventura staff as linebackers coach / special teams coordinator. Haydon had been at Feather River since 2010.
