Georgia Tech: Paul Griffin has officially taken over as interim athletic director this week. Griffin was senior associate AD at Georgia Tech from 2002-12 and served as interim AD from 2013-13.

Georgia: Offensive coordinator Jim Chaney and defensive coordinator Mel Tucker will call plays from the sideline, Kirby Smart said Tuesday.

Texas: First-year offensive coordinator Sterlin Gilbert will call plays from the sideline this season.

Georgia: Former Georgia and NFL Kicker Kevin Butler has joined the UGA staff and is working with kickers and punters. The 54-year-old Butler is a College Football Hall of Famer and has returned to school this fall to complete his undergraduate degree. Butler has previously helped UGA specialists in an unofficial advisor role in the past. 

Phoenix College (AZ): Former Washington offensive program coordinator Herb Pierce has joined the Phoenix College staff as co-offensive coordinator. Pierce had worked at Washington since 2010.

Auburn: First-year defensive line coach Kevin Steele and first-year offensive line coach Herb Hand will work from the press box this season. Gus Malzahn calls the offensive plays.

Arizona: First-year defensive coordinator Marcel Yates will call plays from the press box this season. Rich Rodriguez calls the offensive plays.

Miami (FL): Offensive coordinator Thomas Brown and defensive coordinator Manny Diaz will coach from the sideline this season. Mark Richt will call the offensive plays. 

LSU: All nine assistants will work from the sideline this season. On Monday, Les Miles explained why.

Texas Tech: Former NFL and Texas Tech offensive lineman Manny Ramirez has joined the staff as director of player development. Ramirez spent the last nine years playing in the NFL. 

Nebraska: Offensive coordinator Danny Langsdorf and offensive line coach Mike Cavanaugh will both work from the press box this season.

RPI (NY): Inside linebackers coach Steve Hladio has moved to offensive coordinator / offensive line coach. Hladio is entering his second season and also coached at RPI from 2011-13.

Howard: Former NFL linebacker Cato June has joined the Howard staff as running backs coach / director of football operations. June was previously the head coach at Anacostia High School (DC). In addition, former NFL and Howard offensive lineman Brandon Torrey has joined the staff as offensive line coach. Torrey spent last year as a volunteer assistant at Howard while he finished his degree.

Elizabeth City State (NC): Lake Forest (IL) tight ends / H-backs coach Johnny Johnson has joined the Elizabeth City staff as quarterbacks coach. Johnson spent six months at Lake Forest and was previously the head coach at North Chicago Community High School.

Oregon: Mark Helfrich says defensive coordinator Brady Hoke will call plays from the sideline, and defensive backs coach John Neal will be in the press box. (Hoke will also wear a headset, after not doing so at Michigan). Offensively, coordinator / wide receivers coach Matt Lubick and quarterbacks coach David Yost will likely be in the press box.

Ohio State: Defensive coordinator Greg Schiano will call plays from the press box this season, and co-defensive coordinator Luke Fickell will work from the sideline.

Georgetown: Rome Grizzlies (Italy) defensive coordinator Kellen Pruitt has joined the Georgetown staff as defensive ends / nickel backs coach, and former Wooster defensive assistant Colin Woodward has joined the staff as linebackers coach. Pruitt spent eight of the last nine years playing and coaching in Italy. Woodward spent one year at Wooster.

Purdue: New athletic director Mike Bobinski will earn $600,000 in 2016 on a five-year deal, and he can earn up to $200,000 more in annual bonuses, according to the Lafayette Journal & Courier. The salary will increase to $625,000 in 2017 and $650,000 in 2018. Future salary increases will be determined later.

Texas Tech: Athletic director Kirby Hocutt has signed a new 7-year contract worth $7.525 million total, according to the Lubbock Avalanche-Journal. His salary starts at $1 million this year and increases by $25,000 each year. Hocutt can also earn up to $225,000 in annual bonuses.
