New Mexico: Bob Davie explains how being out of coaching for 11 years and working at ESPN made him a better coach.

Holy Cross (MA): Former Colby College running backs coach Jon Guynes has joined the Holy Cross staff as running backs coach. Guynes spent one year at Colby and served as a graduate assistant at UConn from 2012-13, working with the defensive line. He previously coached at Holy Cross in 2008 as outside linebackers coach and has also coached at Assumption College, Iona and Muhlenberg.

SEC: Here is CoachingSearch’s breakdown of the SEC tight ends coaches.

Memphis: Southeast Missouri State athletic director Mark Alnutt has been named deputy athletic director at Memphis. Alnutt had been at SEMO since 2012 after serving in various roles at Missouri since 1998.

UCF: George O’Leary tells the Orlando Sentinel that offensive coordinator / running backs coach Brent Key is a “very, very, very” strong candidate to replace him as UCF’s next head coach. O’Leary is 68 years old and recently added interim athletic director duties. Key has been at UCF since 2005, working up from graduate assistant. It was reported in August 2014 that O’Leary was considering stepping down and handing the program to Key, but it didn’t happen, and O’Leary denied the report. 

New Mexico State: Deputy athletic director David McCollum has left his post and been replaced by Southern Illinois deputy athletic director Chet Savage. McCollum had been at NMSU since August 2013, and Savage has been at SIU since 2010.

Southwestern College (KS): Associate athletic director Mike Kirkland and sports information director Scott Nuss have been promoted to interim athletic directors. Their appointments began July 1, and they will serve until a full-time athletic director is hired in the fall. Kirkland served as Southwest’s athletic director from 2003-09 and will oversee men’s sports. Nuss will oversee women’s sports.

St. John’s (NY): General counsel Joseph Oliva has been named interim athletic director. Oliva has served in his current role since 2005 after five years as associate general counsel. Oliva is the school’s chief legal officer in his role as general counsel.

North Carolina Central: Former Savannah State offensive line coach Carl Funderburk has joined the North Carolina Central staff as tight ends coach. Funderburk most recently coached in 2011 for the Fayetteville Force of the Southern Indoor Football League and has also coached at Winston-Salem State, Methodist (N.C.), Bacone (OK) and more.

Gardner-Webb: Eastern Kentucky assistant strength and conditioning coach Chris McCormick has joined Gardner-Webb as director of athletic performance. McCormick spent two years at EKU and previously served as the head strength and conditioning coach at West Alabama. He replaces Ben Sowders, who accepted a football strength position at Georgia Tech earlier this summer.

Central Connecticut State: Albany quarterbacks coach / pass game coordinator Ryan McCarthy has been named offensive coordinator at Central Connecticut State. McCarthy spent the past 13 years at Albany, serving as offensive coordinator from 2008-13.

Nebraska-Kearney: Director of corporate partnerships Hilke Brandon has been promoted to assistant athletic director for external relations. Brandon joined UNK in February 2014.

Eastern Kentucky: Charles Skalaski III’s title at Eastern Kentucky is wide receivers coach / associate head coach / recruiting coordinator. 

Alabama: How about this from Kirby Smart? “Every college coach is thinking, 'Should I go to the NFL?'”

South Florida: Offensive graduate assistant David Gilbertson has been promoted to tight ends coach. It has not yet been announced who will coach special teams. Gilbertson joined the USF staff in summer 2014 and played quarterback at Washington State from 2009-13. He joins the list of graduate assistants hired to full-time jobs this year. This gives Willie Taggart his nine full-time assistants for 2015. 

San Jose State: Mountain West Conference  senior associate commissioner / chief financial officer Mike Waller has been named senior associate athletic director for business operations at SJSU. Waller spent two years at the Mountain West after 24 years in the athletic department at Boise State. 

Valdosta State: West Georgia linebackers coach / special teams coordinator Chad Williams has joined the Valdosta State staff as defensive coordinator. Williams previously served as a graduate assistant at Middle Tennessee State in 2013 and at Jacksonville State in 2012.

Texas A&M-Commerce: Quality control assistant Drew Hollingshead has been promoted to wide receivers coach. Hollingshead has spent the past two seasons working with Commerce’s quarterbacks.

Cumberland (KY): Eastern Kentucky wide receivers coach Klay Koester has joined the Cumberland staff as offensive coordinator / quarterbacks coach. Koester spent the past five years at EKU. And has also coached at McMurry (KY).

Limestone College (S.C.): Wide receivers coach Joe Stockton has been promoted to offensive coordinator, assistant defensive line coach Michael Enoch has been promoted to defensive line coach, and assistant defensive backs coach Josh Davis has been promoted to wide receivers coach. Stockton has been with the program since 2013, while Enoch and Davis joined in 2014.

Big Ten: Here is CoachingSearch’s look at the Big Ten running backs coaches.

Next in line: Here’s a look at the assistant coaches you can expect to be head coaching candidates after the 2015 season.

Virginia Tech: Defensive backs coach / passing game coordinator Torrian Gray’s letter of appointment has been renewed through June 30, 2016, and his salary will remain at $275,000, according to the Virginian-Pilot. Eight of the nine Virginia Tech assistants have letters of appointment through June 2016. Defensive coordinator / inside linebackers coach Bud Foster is the only one on contract, which is through 2019.

Mid-American Conference: Director of football operations / special events Kerri Krawczak has been promoted to director of football operations and external relations for the MAC, and assistant commissioner for institutional services Kristin Williams has been promoted to associate commissioner for institutional services and senior woman administrator. 

Morgan State: Per source, offensive line / assistant head coach Dwayne Foster is no longer on the staff and has taken another job. Foster spent one season at Morgan State after three years as offensive line / assistant head coach at North Carolina Central. 

Liberty: Assistant director of player personnel Kettie Fickter has been promoted to director of player personnel and recruiting. Fickter joined Liberty in 2014 after working in event management at Wake Forest and LSU. She served as Liberty’s assistant to the director of football operations and recruiting in 2009.

Eastern Kentucky: Liberty director of player personnel and recruiting Charlie Skalaski III will join the staff at Eastern Kentucky, according to Flames Nation. Skalaski coached tight ends and wide receivers at Liberty from 2003-11 and rejoined the staff in 2014 as director of player personnel / recruiting. He coached with the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2012. 

Bethune-Cookman: Athletic director Lynn Thompson has been promoted to vice president for intercollegiate athletics. Thompson has served as B-CU’s athletic director since 1991.
