Kentucky: Former South Florida safeties coach John Jancek has joined the Kentucky staff as a defensive consultant, according to WNML. Jancek spent the last year at USF and previously worked as Tennessee defensive coordinator.

Oklahoma: Former OU center Ty Darlington has joined the staff as an offensive quality control assistant. Darlington played at OU from 2012-15.

Nebraska: Former Western Michigan head coach Gary Darnell has joined the Nebraska staff as a defensive consultant, according to 247Sports. Darnell led WMU from 1997-2004, followed by two years as a Texas A&M assistant. Defensive coordinator Bob Diaco worked under Darnell at WMU in 2004. Darnell last coached in 2007.

Virginia Tech: Texas strength assistant Charles Simmons has joined the Virginia Tech staff as an assistant strength and conditioning coach. Simmons spent the spring in Austin and previously worked at Baylor.

Georgia Southern: Former Georgia Tech defensive back Jamal Golden has joined the Georgia Southern staff as a graduate assistant. Golden played at Tech from 2011-15.

Elon (NC): North Carolina offensive quality control assistant Clay Browning has joined the Elon staff as tight ends coach. Browning had been at UNC since 2013 and was also a student assistant there.

Austin College (TX): Former Southwest Minnesota State linebackers coach Nathan Packard has joined the Austin staff in the same role, and former Illinois College defensive backs coach Tre Stewart has joined the Austin staff in the same role. Both are former Austin College players.

Waynesburg (PA): Graduate assistant John Sikora has been promoted to linebackers coach / special teams coordinator, and Blairsville High School (OA) defensive coordinator Erik Foust has joined the staff as offensive coordinator / offensive line coach.

Minnesota Crookston: Offensive line / running backs coach Dave Volk has been promoted to co-offensive coordinator / run game coordinator, and quarterbacks / wide receivers coach Michael Orts has been promoted to co-offensive coordinator / pass game coordinator. Volk is in his third season on staff, while Orts is in his first. In addition, Peru State College (NE) defensive coordinator Derek Derr has joined the Minnesota Crookston staff as tight ends coach / strength and conditioning coordinator.

Shorter (GA): Former Lock Haven (PA) tight ends coach David Keeny has joined the Shorter staff as tight ends / offensive line coach. Keeny is the former head coach at Kutztown. 

Virginia: Southern Virginia wide receivers coach Matthew Edwards has joined the Virginia staff as an offensive analyst. Edwards is the grandson of LaVell Edwards and spent two years at Southern Virginia.

Dixie State (UT): Former Lamar defensive backs coach Willie Mack Garza has joined Dixie State as defensive backs coach, and former Northwestern Oklahoma State wide receivers coach Anthony Weeden has joined the staff as wide receivers coach.  Both spent one year at their previous stops.

UMass: Former NFL wide receiver Leonard Hankerson has joined the UMass staff. Hankerson played at Miami and played in the NFL from 2011-15, including a stint with the Patriots.

Florida: Randy Shannon’s promotion to defensive coordinator also included a raise from $400,000 to $890,000, according to the Gainesville Sun. In addition, running backs coach JaJuan Seider has a 2-year deal worth $335,000 in 2017 and $345,000 in 2018. Defensive backs coach Corey Bell and offensive line coach Brad Davis will each earn $290,000 in 2017 and $315,000 in 2018.

Seattle Seahawks: Former Seahawks player Lemuel Jeanpierre has joined the Seahawks as an offensive assistant. Jeanpierre spent six years as an offensive lineman with the team from 2010-15.

New Orleans Saints: Former Dolphins director of football administration Ryan Herman has joined the Saints as a football analyst. Herman worked with the Dolphins from 2010-16.

Virginia Tech: Christopher Newport (VA) wide receivers coach Tommy Reamon Jr. has joined the Hokies as a quality control analyst, according to 247Sports. Reamon has also coached with the Steelers and at Virginia. His father was Michael Vick’s high school coach.

Ellsworth CC: Former Missouri Southern defensive backs coach Charles Alexander has joined the Ellsworth staff as defensive coordinator. Alexander spent the last three years at Missouri Southern.

Arizona: Former Arizona and NFL player Chuck Cecil has been named director of player development at Arizona. Cecil played safety at UA from 1984-87 and is in the College Football Hall of Fame.

Ole Miss: Former Dolphins assistant offensive line coach Jack Bicknell Jr. has been named offensive line coach at Ole Miss. Bicknell spent 2014-15 with the Dolphins and previously with the Steelers and Chiefs. He was Louisiana Tech’s head coach from 1999-2006.

Coastal Carolina: Head coach Joe Moglia will miss the 2017 season on a five-month medical sabbatical, due to an asthmatic reaction to allergies, according to Yahoo Sports. He will return to running the program after the season. Offensive coordinator and former Charleston Southern head coach Jamey Chadwell will serve as interim head coach. It will be Coastal's first season in FBS.

Arizona: Rich Rodriguez plans to fill former director of on-campus recruiting Matt Dudek’s position internally and use the money to hire one or two personnel analysts. 

Bacone (OK): Independence CC assistant Drametrice Smith has joined the Bacone staff as cornerbacks coach. Smith joined Independence this offseason and previously coached at Arkansas Baptist. 

Michigan Tech: Michigan Tech offensive coordinator Erik Ieuter has joined the Florida staff as an offensive quality control assistant. Ieuter spent 12 years at Michigan Tech. As a result, first-year offensive assistant Dan Mettlach has been promoted to offensive coordinator, and defensive backs coach Josh Wood and defensive line coach Bryan Thomas have been promoted to co-defensive coordinators. In addition, Finlandia (MI) assistant athletic director Phil Milbrath has joined the staff as running backs coach.

Pittsburgh Steelers: An extension for head coach Mike Tomlin will be announced soon, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. Tomlin is 103-57 in 10 seasons.

Tuskegee (AL): Head coach Willie Slater has added the role of athletic director. Slater has been the head coach since 2006.

Baylor: Tennessee quality control assistant Stephen Smith has joined Baylor as director of player development. Smith spent two years at Tennessee and previously coached at SMU and in the Texas high school ranks.

Texas: Cal assistant strength coach Adam Potts has joined the Texas staff as an assistant strength coach. Potts spent two years at Cal and previously worked at Houston and Iowa State. 

Portland State: Washington State defensive assistant David Lose has joined the Portland State staff as defensive line coach. Lose spent the last six years at Washington State.

LA Rams: Former Lions senior personnel executive Brian Xanders has joined the Rams as senior personnel executive. Xanders spent four years with the Lions and was previously the Broncos general manager. In addition, former Eagles senior scout Marty Barrett has joined the Rams as a national scout, and Matt Waugh has joined the staff as a pro scouting assistant.

Jon Gruden: On the idea of coming back to coaching, Jon Gruden tells Pewter Report, “I’ve met with several people – I won’t deny that. People – just about every year I talk about coming back to coach. I’m not in here every day at 4:30 or 4:00 in the morning watching pinball. You know? I’m preparing myself to come back. I am. Every day. I’m preparing to come back. It helps me in my broadcasting and I think if you lose that edge … you can’t come back unless you are totally wired with college football, personnel, schemes, the CBA, how people are practicing, trends, you know. You’ve got stay on top of this stuff.”

Jackson State: Former Texas Southern offensive line coach Carl Roberts has joined the JSU staff as offensive line coach, and Howard Payne defensive backs coach Lionel Stokes has joined JSU as defensive backs coach. Roberts coached at JSU from 2012-15, and Roberts joined HPU this fall from Louisiana-Lafayette. In addition, Tennessee State graduate assistant R. Amir Grant has joined JSU as tight ends coach.

Northern Iowa: Former Buffalo defensive backs coach D.J. Vokolek has joined the Northern Iowa staff as linebackers / assistant head coach, and former FAU assistant D.P. Eyman has joined UNI as running backs coach. Vokolek previously coached at UNI from 2003-05, and Eyman is a former UNI player from 2005-09.

Denver Broncos: John Elway’s new title is president of football operations / general manager. He was previously executive VP / GM.

Columbia: Villanova senior associate athletic director Bob Steitz has been named senior associate AD for external affairs at Columbia. Steitz spent nearly 14 years at Villanova.

Eastern Washington: Cal offensive quality control assistant Heath Pulver has rejoined the EWU staff as tight ends coach / special teams coordinator. Pulver joined Cal this offseason and was previously at Colorado State for five years, as well as on the EWU staff from 2008-11.

Green Bay Packers: College scout Charles Walls has been promoted to area scout in his fifth year with the team, and former player Brandian Ross has been hired as a scouting intern. 

Ole Miss: Former Northern Michigan defensive coordinator Dave Corrao will join the Ole Miss staff as an analyst, according to Sports Illustrated. Corrao spent 2016 at NMU, the previous eight years with the Miami Dolphins and three years at Ole Miss under Ed Orgeron from 2005-07.

Virginia Tech: Furman executive associate athletic director Angie Littlejohn has been named senior associate athletic director for internal operations at Virginia Tech. Littlejohn spent nearly two years at Furman.

Green Bay Packers: College scout John Wojciechowski has been promoted to director of pro personnel in his sixth season with the team, college scout Richmond Williams has been promoted to pro scout after nine years with the team, intern Luke Benuska has been promoted to pro scout in his second year, scouting assistant Joe Huebner has been promoted to college scout in his third year, scouting assistant Charlie Peprah has been promoted to college scout in his second year, and former 49ers scout Matt Malaspina has been hired as a college scout.

Michigan State: Central Michigan on-campus recruiting coordinator Jesse Johnson has joined the MSU staff as a defensive backs graduate assistant. Johnson spent the last past year at CMU and is a former MSU player.

Kansas City Chiefs: Michael Vick has joined the Chiefs as a training camp intern. 

North Texas: Former UNT player Kenny Buyers has joined the UNT staff as a graduate assistant, and former Cowboys and Georgia Tech running back Tashard Choice has joined the UNT staff as an offensive quality control assistant. Choice had been working as a volunteer at UNT in recent months.

Arizona Cardinals: Former NFL receiver Plaxico Burress and former defensive tackle Tommy Kelly have joined the Cardinals as training camp interns.

USC: Georgia operations assistant Sam Curtis has joined the USC staff as assistant director of football operations. Curtis joined Georgia in February and was previously an operations intern at Tennessee.

Denver Broncos: Former head coach Gary Kubiak will rejoin the Broncos personnel staff, assisting with scouting and primarily based in Texas, according to NFL Network’s James Palmer. Kubiak retired after the 2016 season due to health issues.

Seton Hill (PA): Former Furman defensive line coach Ramal Faunteroy has joined the Seton Hill staff as defensive line coach / run game coordinator. Faunteroy spent one season at Furman after seven years at Shepherd University (WV).

Ole Miss: Matt Luke will earn an additional $500,000 as interim head coach, on top of his $660,000 annual salary.
