Southern: Athletic director William Broussard will not return, and men’s basketball coach Roman Banks will remain as interim athletic director. Broussard has been serving as an assistant to the president for institutional advancement for the past four months, and that will now be a permanent role.
Urbana (OH): Per source, former Northwestern Oklahoma State offensive coordinator / offensive line coach Kevin Turco has joined the Urbana staff as offensive line / assistant head coach. Turco worked at NWOSU from 2012-14.
Troy: CollegeAD.com reports three candidates for the Troy athletic director job include Oklahoma senior associate athletic director for development Mike Alford, South Carolina senior associate AD for development Jeff Crane and Missouri associate athletic director for advancement Tim Stedman. The site reports interviews took place last week in New Orleans.
Stanford: At Bay Area Media Day, David Shaw said, "I have not interviewed for a single job in four years. I have no desire right now to go to the NFL. I'll never say never though. There's no better place to do this job (than Stanford)."
San Diego State: Media relations staffers Jamie McConeghy and Darin Wong have been promoted to assistant athletic directors for media relations. Both are entering their 12th seasons at SDSU.
Memphis: Former Tulsa head coach Bill Blankenship has joined the Memphis staff as an offensive analyst, according to Fox 23 in Tulsa. Blankenship coached Memphis head coach Justin Fuente at Union High School (OK) in the mid-90s, and former Tulsa defensive coordinator Brent Guy joined the Memphis staff this offseason. Blankenship went 24-27 leading Tulsa from 2011-14, including an 11-3 record in 2012.
LaGrange College (GA): Per source, Central Arkansas assistant offensive line coach / director of football operations Robert Cunningham will join the LaGrange staff as offensive line coach / run game coordinator. Cunningham had been on the Central Arkansas staff since 2009, working as a graduate assistant, quality control coach and then in his current role.
Oakland Raiders: USA Today reports Jack Del Rio hired a “mindset coach” to make sure a positive vibe remains around the organization and to make sure coaches keep their own energy flowing. You can read more about the philosophy here.
Colorado State: Offensive coordinator / offensive line coach Will Friend will coach from the field alongside head coach Mike Bobo, who will be calling offensive plays. Bobo tells CoachingSearch that quarterbacks coach Ronnie Letson and tight ends coach Jeff Hammerschmidt will be in the coaches box on game days among the offensive staff.
Buffalo: Per source, safeties coach D.J. Vokolek has added the title of assistant head coach, and former Southwest Minnesota State tight ends / strength coach Grant Murray has joined the Buffalo staff as an offensive quality control coach. Murray played for Lance Leipold at Wisconsin-Whitewater.
Kent State: Per source, Northwestern assistant director of player personnel Nolan Jones has accepted the director of football operations job at Kent State. Jones joined the Northwestern staff in June and spent the 2013 season at Michigan as director of football operations. He has also worked at Southern Miss, Kentucky and more.
Carolina Panthers: In today’s MMQB, Peter King provides an update on Carolina Panthers special teams coordinator Bruce DeHaven, who has returned to coaching while battling prostate cancer.
