Houston Texans: Fox 26 reports Bill O’Brien has taken over offensive play-calling duties. The Texans are 2-1, but have yet to score more than 23 points in a game and were shut out by the Patriots last week.

Florida International: Special teams coordinator Kirk Doll has moved to defense, and special teams will be a group-coaching situation, according to the Miami Herald. 

Penn State: Athletic director Sandy Barbour tells the Altoona Mirror that James Franklin is “not on the hot seat, and he's not going to be on the hot seat in December. James is going to be our football coach. I believe in where this football program is going under James Franklin, and I think he's going to be our football coach, period."

LSU: Asked if there will be a search committee, athletic director Joe Alleva told ESPN Radio Baton Rouge, “I’m the search.” Read more here.

Oregon State: Deputy athletic director for administration Marianne Vydra has been named interim athletic director. She previously served as interim AD in July 2015 and has been at the school since 1992. She will begin on Nov. 4. In addition, the 13-person search committee includes former football player Steven Jackson and baseball coach Pat Casey. College Sports Solutions has been hired as the search firm to assist in the process.

Florida State: Jimbo Fisher said Wednesday. “I love this university and I plan on being here for a long time.”

Tennessee: The Knoxville News Sentinel reports athletic director Dave Hart’s retirement next June is in part because school officials determined Hart would not receive an extension and raise. Hart will be paid $645,454 after his retirement.

Oklahoma State: Per the Austin American-Statesman, T. Boone Pickens said recently, “I don’t have any conversations with Gundy. I don’t know (if there’s a rift), but Mike doesn’t handle people relationships very well. And he gets mad about things. I’ve heard he’s written some notes about me that weren’t very complimentary.”

LSU: Interim head coach Ed Orgeron plans to continue coaching the defensive line, alongside new DL coach Pete Jenkins. Orgeron also explained his offensive plans and why he added a local radio host to the staff.

FIU: Interim had coach / defensive coordinator Ron Cooper has given play-calling duties to defensive backs coach Bobby Babich, and offensive coordinator Steve Shankweiler will have full offensive play-calling duties. In addition, special teams coordinator Kirk Doll and tight ends coach Jason Brooks will help out on defense.

Wisconsin: Director of recruiting Andrew Marlatt has been promoted to senior director of operations and recruiting. Marlatt is in his second season on the staff.

Mississippi State: The Clarion-Ledger reports the lead internal candidate for the AD job is baseball coach John Cohen, who added the title of associate athletic director in July. The paper adds that associate AD of external affairs Scott Weatherbee could also be a candidate, and external possibilities include Georgia Tech senior associate AD of operations John David Wicker and Texas A&M senior associate AD of external affairs Jason Cook. MSU’s last three AD’s have been promoted from within. The school will use a search firm.

Florida: New athletic director Scott Stricklin has a six-year deal worth  $1.076 annually, along with a $150,000 signing bonus. Stricklin earned $500,000 annually at MSU. He will be introduced at a 1 p.m. ET press conference. Current athletic director Jeremy Foley will remain in his role through Nov. 1, instead of Oct. 1. Keep track of AD changes here.
