Mississippi State: Senior associate AD for external affairs Scott Wetherbee has been named interim athletic director. Before joining Mississippi State, Wetherbee was an assistant athletic director at ECU, Fresno State and San Diego State.

Notre Dame: Brian Kelly was asked about AD Jack Swarbrick saying he will be the coach next season and responded, “I was disappointed actually. Anytime that your athletic director has to come out and say that, as a head coach you're disappointed that any kind of comments like that have to be made. … He was probably sick and tired of being sick and tired, too. But for me it's disappointing, certainly, that you have to make those comments.”

Michigan State: Mark Dantonio said today of his staff, “I’m going have great faith and loyalty in our coaches.”

Birmingham Southern (AL): Head coach Eddie Garfinkle will not return next season. The team’s final game is on Nov. 5. Garfinkle has been the Division III program’s head coach since 2008 and has a 41-45 record.

Western Michigan: Athletic director Kathy Beauregard tells The Detroit News that the school is working to increase P.J. Fleck’s salary, saying, “Don’t just assume we can’t keep him.” Fleck earned $800,000 in 2015, the highest salary in the MAC by more than $200,000.

Texas:’s Anwar Richardson reports Charlie Strong and AD Mike Perrin had a closed-door meeting today “to get on the same page and express administration’s expectations.” But a UT spokesman tells reporters it was simply a visit to "say hi to the folks in football" and that it wasn't a meeting with Strong.

UNLV: Athletic director Tina Kunzer-Murphy will leave her position after the fiscal year ends June 30, 2017, according to the Las Vegas Review-Journal. Kunzer-Murphy has been the AD since 2013.

San Diego State: Georgia Tech senior associate athletic director John David Wicker has been named athletic director at SDSU. Wicker had been at Georgia Tech since July 2015 and was previously the deputy AD at SDSU from 2011-15. He was also an associate AD at Washington State from 2001-11.
