Costas Tonight - Summary Recap

Brown: According to CBS Sports, Hofstra athletic director Jack Hayes will be named AD at Brown.

Eastern Washington: Former Arizona State offensive quality control Kiel McDonald has joined the staff as running backs coach.

UCLA: According to the LA Times, Jim Mora Jr. is expected to receive a 5-year deal worth no more than $3 million annually in base salary.  The contract can be extended by one year each time the Bruins win at least 8 regular season games. Defensive coordinator Lou Spanos is expected to receive a 2-year deal worth up to $550,000 annually.  Offensive coordinator / quarterbacks coach Noel Mazzone is expected to receive a 2-year deal worth up to $350,000 in 2012 and $375,000 in 2013.  Head strength coach Sal Alosi is expected to earn $225,000.  Wide receivers coach Eric Yarber will earn $156,000 in 2012 and $275,000 in 2013.

Minnesota-Duluth: Sources tell me that defensive coordinator Todd Strop has resigned.

St. Louis Rams: Head coach Jeff Fisher will not name a new defensive coordinator for this season.  It will be a combined effort by the assistant coaching staff.

Hinds Community College (MS): Sources tell me that SMU defensive intern Michael Myers has joined the Hinds CC staff as defensive tackles coach and Tallahatchie HS (MS) assistant Ben Dew has joined the staff as defensive ends coach.

Arkansas: Bobby Petrino should be released from the hospital today and will be able to attend practice.

Tiffin University: Former Kentucky wide receiver Craig Yeast is the new wide receivers coach at Tiffin University. Yeast had been serving as the head coach at Bryan Station HS (KY).  Tiffin head coach Gary Goff once worked under Hal Mumme, who coached Yeast at Kentucky.

Indianapolis Colts: Former Colts and Titans linebacker David Thornton has accepted the director of player development job with the Indianapolis Colts.

Weber State: Defensive coordinator Jody Searns will coach the safeties.  Sears recently joined John L. Smith's staff at Weber State after serving the last few years as the co-defensive coordinator / corners coach at Washington State.

Grambling: Sources tell me that LSU offensive grad assistant Ben Wilkerson will join the Grambling staff as offensive line coach.

The Citadel: Illinois director of player personnel John Hauser has accepted the safeties job at The Citadel.

University of Mary: North Dakota co-defensive coordinator / defensive backs coach John Kelling has accepted the defensive coordinator job at University of Mary.

Wheaton College: Former Purdue player Kurt Lichtenberg has joined the staff as an offensive assistant.

Hawaii: American River College defensive coordinator Jared Vanderbeek will join the Hawaii staff as a defensive grad assistant.

Northern Arizona: Prescott HS (AZ) assistant Jeff Lewis has accepted the wide receivers job.

Arkansas: Bobby Petrino remained in the hospital overnight after a motorcycle accident.  A report has now surfaced that Petrino has multiple broken ribs, cuts and bruises, and a sprained neck.  Arkansas, meanwhile, has just released as statement saying that Petrino is in stable condition and expected to make a full recovery.

Central College (Oklahoma): Mary-Hardin Baylor grad assistant Carl Coleman has joined the staff to assist with the defensive backs, while Anderson University (IN) grad assistant Nick Mulder has accepted the defensive line job.
