Arkansas: AD Jeff Long says he is not interested in leaving Arkansas.  Long was reportedly a candidate for the Stanford athletic director position.

New York Jets: Head coach Rex Ryan has made it clear that he will be more involved in the defense this season.

Alcorn State: Sources again tell me that Alcorn State officials have yet to make a decision on their new head coach.

Auburn: Georgia assistant strength coach Tony Gilbert has accepted a defensive grad assistant position at Auburn.  Gilbert played at Georgia when Brian VanGorder was the defensive coordinator.  Sources tell me that VanGorder wanted someone with experience as a linebacker and also considered former NFL linebacker Nate Wayne for the position.  Wayne played in Jacksonville in 2005 when VanGorder was a part of the Jaguars staff.  With Gilbert landing the job, it's obvious that great pre-snap stance as a player was a requirement for the job.

SEC - Big 12 bowl game: The SEC champion and Big 12 champion will meet in a bowl game beginning in 2014, provided that neither team is playing for the national championship.  It's a five-year agreement.  Site is undetermined, at this point.  According to Chuck Neinas, the game will be played at primetime on January 1st.

Georgia: Veteran high school head coach and athletic director Daryl Jones has been named director of on-campus recruiting.

Stanford: KNWA television in Fayetteville is reporting that Arkansas athletic director Jeff Long is a candidate for the Stanford athletic director position.

Miami (OH): Sources tell me that Valpo defensive coordinator Robert Lee has accepted a position on Don Treadwell's staff at Miami (OH).

SMU: Athletic director Steve Orsini has been dismissed, effective immediately.  Tim Leonard has been named interim AD.

Houston Nutt: SiriusXM has announced that Houston Nutt will serve as an analyst on the College Sports Nation channel.

New Mexico: Sources tell me that Illinois State defensive intern Khenon Hall has joined Bob Davie's staff as a defensive grad assistant.

Baltimore Ravens: Eric DeCosta has been promoted from director of player personnel to assistant general manager.  Additionally, Southeast area scout Joe Douglas has been elevated to national scout, Mark Azevado will take over Douglas' previous duties, and David Blackburn shifts from an assistant position in the scouting department to in charge of the Northwest, Southwest, and Midwest.

Alabama: Don't be surprised if Purdue director of player personnel Paul Gonnella ends up replacing Ed Marynowitz at Alabama.

South Alabama: Birmingham-Southern offensive line / run game coordinator Chase Smith has accepted the director of football operations job at South Alabama.

USC: According to a USA Today study, USC paid Monte Kiffin a total of $1.5 million in 2010.  The figure comes from the university's federal tax return documents.  USC, a private university, does not typically release salary information.
