Weber State: Sources tell me that that UTEP offensive coordinator / quarterbacks coach Aaron Price is a candidate for the head coaching job at Weber State.
LSU: Defensive coordinator John Chavis has received a new deal that will pay him $900,000 (2012), $1.1 million (2013), and $1.3 million (2014).
NY Jets: ESPN is reporting that New York Jets vice president of college scouting Joey Clinkscales could be on the move in the new couple of weeks to join the Oakland Raiders organization.
Mercer University: Sources tell me that Kentucky offensive grad assistant Carter Barfield has accepted the wide receivers / running backs job at Mercer University.
Princeton: I have learned that Southern Miss defensive grad assistant Stephen Thomas has accepted the linebackers job at Princeton.

Weber State: Sources tell me that John L. Smith had a $25,000 buyout in the contract at Weber State.
Arkansas: The AP is reporting Weber State head coach John L. Smith will be named interim head coach at Arkansas. According to Arkansas Sports 360, the deal is a 10-month contract. ESPN's Joe Schad is now reporting that Smith initiated the contact with Jeff Long. Smith will be introduced on Tuesday at 2 pm CST. He will reportedly be paid $850,000. In the official Arkansas release, Jeff Long says that he will evaluate the program and head coaching position and make a decision after the season. John L. Smith is being listed as head coach, not interim head coach.
University of Minnesota: VCU athletic director Norwood Teague will become the athletic director at Minnesota.
Texas A&M: Texas A&M is begining a search for a new athletic director as Bill Byrne will transition out of his role. Byrne's contract ends on August 13, 2013. The timing when a change will occur has yet to be determined.

Arkansas: Here's your 1:37 am CST update. Sources close to the situation have confirmed with me that Arkansas athletic director has not asked permission to talk with Weber State head coach John L. Smith, who served as an Arkansas assistant the last three years.
