Georgia: Todd Grantham's new contract requires the coach to pay Georgia 15% of his annual salary if he takes another college assistant coaching position after the 2012 season, 10% after the 2013 season, 5% after the 2014 season.  If Grantham leaves UGA for any NFL position or a college head coaching job, he is not obligated to pay anything.

Montana: Montana and former head coach Robin Pflugrad reached a settlement, which prevents legal action over his dismissal.  Montana will pay Pflugrad $200,000 as well as health insurance benefits through December 31.

Monday afternoon one-liners

Jackson State: Offensive coordinator Derrick McCall has been promoted to offensive coordinator.

Valparaiso: Valparaiso is looking for an entry level football intern, assisting with linebackers the position will have its own recruiting territory. Stipend only, no housing, no benefits, no classes. Interested applicants should email resume to dale.carlson@valpo.edu. No phone calls please. Applicants must explain how they will provide housing.

Rule change: Interestingly, the NCAA has passed a rule allowing college basketball coaches to have unlimited callls and text messages to all prospects following their sophomore year of high school. Undoubtedly, college football coaches will be curious to know how this works out.

Alcorn State: Alcorn State head coach Jay Hopson has hired Mark McHale as offensive line coach. Hopson and McHale coached together at Marshall under Bob Pruitt. McHales last coaches at the college level at Florida State. Most recently, he has served a head coach at the high school level in Mississippi. Also, Air Force Prep Academy Ralph Street has accepted the defensive line job. According to the Herald-Dispatch, it's possible that Hopson will also hire Bill Wilt on the defensive side of the ball.

Minnesota Vikings: Sources tell me that Austin Peay defensive coordinator Granville Eastman will join the Vikings for OTA's this week and intern during the summer as part of the Bill Walsh Minority internship program.

Oakland Raiders: Tennessee State co-defensive coordinator / defensive line coach Osita Alaribe will participate in the Bill Walsh Minority internship program with the Oakland Raiders.

Notre Dame: Brian Kelly underwent surgery for a herniated disk in his lower back.

Georgia: Former Georgia offensive lineman Daniel Inman has joined the staff as an offensive grad assistant.

Norfolk State: Athletic director Marty Miller has agreed to a 3-year contract extension through 2017.

Georgia: According to Marc Weiszer, Georgia defensive coordinator Todd Grantham has received a $75,000 raise.  Grantham will now earn $825,000 annually.

Northwestern State: Defensive coordinator / associate head coach Brad Laird will resign his position to become the director of university advancement, according to the Shreveport Times.

LSU: According to the News Star, the LSU board is expected to approve raises today for the assistant coaches.  Running backs / recruiting coordinator Frank Wilson is expected to receive a raise of $225,000.  Wilson will earn $550,000 in 2012, $600,000 in 2013, and $650,000 in 2014. Offensive coordinator / offensive line coach Greg Studrawa is expected to receive a 3-year deal at $500,000 annually.  Steve Kragthorpe's salary will be $400,000 in 2012, $425,000 in 2013, and $450,000 in 2014. Tight ends coach Steve Ensminger will go from $210,000 to $230,000 in 2012, $250,000 in 2013, and $300,000 in 2014.  Defensive line coach Brick Haley from $380,000 to $400,000 in 2012, $420,000 in 2013, and $440,000 in 2014. Special teams coordinator Thomas McGauhey will go from $275,000 to $290,000, $300,000 in 2013, and $310,000 in 2014. Wide receivers coach Adam Henry will earn $300,000, $310,000 in 2013, $320,000 in 2014.  Defensive backs coach Corey Raymond will earn $300,000 annually for three years.
