Steve Sarkisian believes Washington's Husky Stadium will be 'the best stadium in America' when renovations are complete for the start of the 2013 season.
As for now, Washington will play their home games in 2012 at Century Link Field, home of the Seattle Seahawks. Here is LIVE footage of how Husky Stadium looks, right now.
On Wednesday afternoon, Sarkisian told Dave 'Softy' Mahler of KJR Radio in Seattle, "The stadium is going to be spectacular. For the recruit that shows up, it will be the best stadium in America from a facilities standpoint as well as a game day atmosphere standpoint. To mix that with the best fans in America, I think when a recruit shows up, he's going to be wowed by it."
Here is a virtual tour of what the stadium will look like once the renovations are complete. (Big-time!)
Heading into his fourth year as head coach, Sark is glad the program established a foundation to endure long-term success.
Sarkisian said, "I think we want to be a program of substance, meaning here for a long time as we build this. I didn't want one great year then we go back. I want to build this thing the right way so that consecutively we are a team year in and year out we are right there in the hunt for a PAC-12 championship. I think we're right on the cusp of that, quite honestly."
Looking back on 2011: "There's always games you wish you had back. Last season, the way it ended, I wish we were a 9-4 football team. I think we should have been and could have been and we end at 7-6, so there were so obvious disappointments there. That's what motivates you."
What's exciting about 2012: "You have to have depth in our conference. I think our roster now is where we have the depth in place. Now, if a guy goes down, the next guy in there isn't such a disparity between the two."
Washington opens the season by hosting San Diego State. A week later, the Huskies travel to Baton Rouge to play LSU.
