If Chad Morris lands Texas Tech, who will Dabo target?

Dabo Swinney could soon face a big decision if Chad Morris accepts the head coaching job at Texas Tech.

Morris interviewed on Tuesday with Texas Tech AD Kirby Hocutt.

His impact on the Clemson program has been strong, to say the least.

In 2011, Clemson averaged 440 yards (26th nationally) and 33 points per game (24th nationally) during a 10-4 season.

In 2012, Clemson average 518 yards per game (9th nationally) and 42 points per game (6th nationally) during a 10-2 regular season.

So who could Dabo Swinney target as a replacement if Morris does land the Texas Tech job?

Noel Mazzone: Mazzone received a lot of attention this year for the job he did in helping UCLA win a PAC-12 South championship under first-year head coach Jim Mora.  Mazzone wouldn't mind getting back to the east coast.  He once coached Phillip Rivers at offensive coordinator at NC State and has previously served as the offensive coordinator at Arizona State, Ole Miss, Oregon State, and Auburn.  He likes to operate out of a simple no-huddle philosophy.

Jedd Fisch: As noted last week on our site, Fisch is 1 of 12 play-callers in all of college football that has produced back-to-back seasons of average 6 yards per play.  Chad Morris didn't do that.  He's familiar with ACC opponents, and implemented an up-tempo style in 2012 that the Hurricanes didn't use in 2011.

Jim Chaney: Chaney is a candidate to land the offensive coordinator job at Missouri, so he might not be around long.  It is believed that he had his druthers, he'd rather operate more out of a spread than in his first couple of years under Derek Dooley at Tennessee.  Chaney made a name for himself while serving on the Purdue staff, where he coached Drew Brees.

Matt Canada: In the last three years, Candada has gone from Indiana to Northern Illinois to Wisconsin.  Bret Bielema has yet to offer Canada the offensive coordinator job at Arkansas, so keep an eye on things over the next few days.  He could end up with Dave Doeren at NC State.

Tom Herman: Urban Meyer reportedly went after Chad Morris a year ago when he landed the Ohio State job.  I wonder if Dabo may try to lure Herman away from the Buckeyes.  He did an admiral job this year in Columbus, helping the Buckeye finished with an undefeated season.  Herman previously served as the offensive coordinator under Paul Rhoads at Iowa State.

Others: Kenny Edenfield (Troy)
