When some Philadelphia reporters were granted credentials to the Fiesta Bowl, you knew the questions were coming.
Speculation continues to surround Chip Kelly and a possible jump to the NFL. Some questions are more direct than others, but Kelly isn't hinting at anything.
He was asked Wednesday if his style of play can work in the NFL, but said he didn't know.
"I get asked the question, but I don't think anybody knows any answers until someone does it. I think the Washington Redskins are doing a pretty good job with, I forgot the name of their quarterback, he's done a decent job," Kelly joked. "The kid at Carolina's done a pretty good job. But it depends. I don't know. I've never coached in that league. I've visited practices and talked to people about it.
"The one thing about that and everything is you've got to have good players. I think sometimes the coaching aspect is way overrated. We don't play the game. College football is a personnel-driven game, the National Football League is a personnel-driven game and your job as a coach very simply is to put your players in positions they can make plays and then get out of the way so they can make them."
Kelly said his players haven't asked him about the NFL, and he hasn't said anything to them about it, continuing to cite how his program shuts out the outside distractions.
Then one of the direct questions came, as a reporter asked Kelly if he will entertain offers. Kelly wasn't having it.
"I'm waiting for an offer from you," Kelly responded. "So I will listen, and I am excited if you want to give me a call. ... I don't expect anything. I've said this a million times. I'm never surprised by anything, so I have no idea what the future holds.
"I do know the future is we have a football game tomorrow night, and I'm going to be there."
Below is part of Kelly's press conference from a few days ago.
