Wisconsin, with six new assistant coaches, is heading back to the Rose Bowl.
The Badgers rushed for 539 yards last night against Nebraska in the 70-31 win over the Huskers to claim the Big Ten championship.
Yes, you read that correctly, the Badgers rushed for 539 yards. hey finished with 640 total yards of offense.
Following the game, Bret Bielema told the Big Ten Network, "To have 6 new coaches, 6 out of 9, to get that room to understand what we needed to do to get back to Pasadena and win another Big Ten championship....the 115 kids that make up my roster, just an incredible group of young men. I will cherish this one forever."
Bielema praised his first-year offensive coordinator / quarterbacks coach Mike Cannada, who led an offense that averaged 30 points per game and 400 yards per game despite losing Russell Wilson.
Chris Ash and Charlie Partridge, my co-coordinators...Chris kind of takes the lead role. Added Andy Buh and Ben Strickland. They were getting coaches very, very well. We don't have a lot of calls; it's a very small call sheet. We get creative on third-down. We believe we have kids that can lock in mentally and give us adjustments on the field. They play extremely hard."
Bielema said, "Everyone wants to talk about some of these other teams that have speed. I may not have a track team, but I got a group of guys that can run."
For the Badgers, it's their third straight win in Indianapolis. Bielema referred to Indy as "Madison East." Wisconsin is 8-5 including overtime losses to Penn State, Ohio State, and Michigan State.
