Will Muschamp: 'They pay their ticket, they can boo all they want'

Will Muschamp admitted a fan got under his skin last week, but he’s not going to let a booing home stadium get to him.

A week ago, Muschamp had an exchange with a fan while walking off the field in Jacksonville. On Saturday, the boos were raining down as the Gators lost to Vanderbilt 34-17, the first win in Gainesville for the Commodores since 1945.

“That’s fine. That doesn’t bother me,” Muschamp said of the boos. “You know what, I made a mistake last week, I made a real mistake with a very passionate, passionate Florida fan who was telling me his opinion of me. You know what? That’s fine. That’s fine. They pay their ticket, they can boo all they want. That’s good. Doesn’t help our program, but that’s fine.”

Muschamp was asked if the four-game losing streak has been humbling, and he said he’s not interested in outside advice.

“I’m a lot harder on myself than you all are, or anyone else in this Gator nation, I can assure you of that,” he said. “I self-evaluate, and I’m very critical of myself of what I need to do to be better. I don’t need to hear anyone from the outside telling me what I need to do with this football team. I can assure you of that.”

Muschamp was also asked about potential staff changes, and he said now was not the time.

“You evaluate everything at the end of the season, and that’s what I certainly will do,” he said. “I’ve done that in my first two years and will do it again this year. I’m not worried about that.”
