Where every NFL head coach was 10 years ago

Last week, we looked at where FBS head coaches were 10 years ago, with some… unique stops. How about the NFL?

While many were NFL assistants, several were in very unexpected places. Here’s where each NFL head coach was 10 years ago:

- 5 coaches are in the same job they were a decade ago: Marvin Lewis, Mike McCarthy, Bill Belichick, Sean Payton and Mike Tomlin.

- 3 coaches were head coaches at another NFL team: John Fox, Andy Reid and Jack Del Rio.

- Pete Carroll is the only one who was a college head coach, while Chuck Pagano was a college assistant.

- Jay Gruden was an Arena league head coach. He coached the Predators from 1998-2008, winning two ArenaBowls.

- Doug Pederson was a high school coach in Louisiana. He led Cavalry Baptist from 2005-08, before joining the Eagles as a quality control assistant in 2009.

- Sean McVay, who is the youngest head coach in NFL history, was a senior wide receiver at Miami (OH).

- The other 19 coaches were NFL assistants. Jason Garrett was in his first year as Cowboys offensive coordinator, and he was promoted to head coach in 2010.
