Scott Shafer: FSU is the best team I've seen LIVE in my whole career

Scott Shafer offered high praise for the Florida State Seminoles today.

According to Syracuse beat writer Nate Mink of the Post Standard, Shafer said today, “That team is the best football team I've seen or coached against live in my whole career."

The Seminoles defeated Syracuse on Saturday by a score of 59-3.

In the game, Florida State rushed for 225 yards on 19 carries against the Orange.  That’s an average of 11.8 yards per carry.  Meanwhile, Jameis Winston completed 22 of 26 for 298 and two touchdowns.

Shafer served as the defensive coordinator at Syracuse from 2009-20012.  He previously spent the 2008 season at Michigan, 2007 at Stanford, and also coached at Western Michigan and Northern Illinois.

No word yet on if Idaho head coach Paul Petrino will make his team aware of Shafer’s comment.  The Vandals are a 56-point underdog, but Jimbo Fisher said yesterday, “Idaho is a very good team.”
