Photo: James Franklin buys newspaper ad to thank Vanderbilt fans

James Franklin bought a half-page ad in The Tennessean to thank Vanderbilt for his three years there.

We’ve seen veteran NFL players do this before, a nice gesture. He reportedly bought a similar ad in Vandy's student newspaper yesterday.

Franklin may be ruffling some feathers by going after Vanderbilt recruits, but he still wanted to thank the players and the community for his time there.

Update: The Tennessean says Penn State paid for the ads.
