Every year, a group of NFL coaches make a move down to college football.

This offseason 27 NFL coaches joined the college ranks, That includes 19 who became full-time college assistants. Last year, there were 30, and there were 22 the year before that.

Some of these coaches were let go from their previous job — five former 49ers assistants moved to college. But some left an NFL job for a college job. Pep Hamilton left the Browns for Michigan and a salary more than $1 million. Two NFL coaches joined the Alabama staff.
