James Madison head coach Everett Withers has accepted the head coaching job at Texas State, a source tells CoachingSearch. (Update: The school has announced the move. A press conference is scheduled for Thursday)

Withers is 19-7 in two years as JMU head coach. He recently made several changes to the defensive staff at JMU and brought in new assistants. Withers also went 7-6 as North Carolina interim head coach in 2011.

JMU’s offense was No. 2 in scoring in FCS last season at 44.3 points per game.

The 52-year-old Withers does have some experience in Texas, serving as a Longhorns assistant from 1998-2000. Other stops in his career include Ohio State, Minnesota, Louisville, Southern Miss, the Tennessee Titans, the New Orleans Saints and more.

He takes over a Texas State program that went 3-9 last season, but did go 13-11 from 2013-14. This year, the Bobcats were No. 79 in scoring offense (26.9 ppg) and No. 120 in scoring defense (39.2 ppg).

We’re down to one open FBS head coaching job. Keep track of changes here.
